SLY takes 2nd in the NASS Spring Race

https://photos.app.goo.gl/xcW7uyVe9UELi5Zx6 Video of Zarraffa next to us at the start. The weather was gray and they were calling for 20 knot winds out of the south as we headed out of Back Creek. Despite all the drama with the weather, ratings, class splits, a jammed spinnaker pole, a blown vang, one knockdown, and no @SlyFox IPA, we had a lot of fun Saturday and congratulations to the crew for some outstanding work! We took 2nd place in PHRF A0. The crew worked incredibly well together, supported each other and made it look easy. It was exciting good to get the boat out in some heavy duty conditions.  I've been impressed with how well the boat sails - we had that puppy pretty loaded up and it was rock solid. According to Thomas Point Light, we had 14 - 24 knots of wind. We had a good start and I was very pleased to see that we had no problem keeping pace with the Farr 40's both upwind and downwind. We left Back Creek in a thick fog and we couldn't see very much of anything. We got the sails up and headed SE, beating into the Southerly breeze, as we headed across the Bay the fog slowly lifted, but everything remained gray. We got some great sailing in 10-12 knots of steady breeze from the south with some great symmetrical spinnaker work. For it being so early in the season everyone did a great job, without any of the usual early season mistakes. Next week is our first race.

SLY is back in the water. We put the Offshore main on and it looked pretty good, shows some use, but appears to be worthy. Friday it was cold with a great breeze. We attempted to calibrate the instruments but found the Analog Expansion Module was shot and we were not getting any wind or boat speed data.

Excitement Builds for the 2019 Season

SLY is getting geared up and is almost ready to kick off the 2019 Season. The name was just installed on the boat today and while the initial name in electrical tape was very cool and successfully captured the attitude, this represents a slight upgrade in quality and will look much better on a T-shirt.  SLY is ready to get splashed and put back in her slip. Everything is looking like a go for the first sail of the season, scheduled for Saturday, April 6th.
